Parents Talk Drugs But Not Science

An interesting tidbit was reported in Zach Miners U.S. News blog titled “Survey: Parents Would Rather Talk Drugs Than Science” .  Seems Intel Corporation performed an online survey on the topic of Science vs. Drugs and found that approximately 75% of parents felt more comfortable and qualified to discuss drugs than science or math with their children.

Parents overwhelmingly agreed on the importance of science and math, but felt they just didn’t have an adequate understanding of the subjects to carry a conversation.  Since parent involvement is necessary to help coach children, this survey will probably be interpreted as disappointing.

Check out the Intel survey results at http://www.intel.com/pressroom/archive/releases/20091021edu.htm and let us know what you think.
