The USA Toady reported, based on a Detroit AP article, that an audit of Detroit Schools revealed millions in wasteful spending.

According to the report, one school district is now facing the possibility of bankruptcy protection.  Consistent budget overspending has contributed to this circumstance. 

The audit turned up some troublesome findings such as healthcare coverage for ineligible employees, an inventory of unused blackberry phones and more.  You can’t help thinking “how many other school districts nationwide are acting the same way”? 

How can school officials be so negligent with taxpayer money?
