Shrinking K-12 Technology Budgets

Will students keep up academically if K-12 schools are forced to cut technology budgets in the upcoming 2009-10 school year?  The answer to that question remains a big unknown.  The new economy and tough times are just beginning to impact technology spending.

As reported by Laura Devaney in a recent eSchoolNews article, approximately 54% of educators that responded to a “K-12 Technology Tools and Trends 2009” survey indicated that they expect their technology budgets to decrease in the upcoming school year.

With cloud computing momentum building and requests for netbooks and ebooks on the rise, it will be interesting to see if shifts in technology spending occur and just how well technology will be integrated into the curriculum in the upcoming years.

How would you best spend precious technology funds?
