Cloud Computing or IT Reuse??

Seems the education world is struggling to settle on a viable technology plan that can be applied nationally and at all levels.

These days we hear plenty about the benefits of a national education cloud for computing, but we are also seeing a push for savings through IT reuse.  Both of these solutions reduce technology spend on hardware, software and maintenance.

With some big names such as Microsoft and Google offering on-demand education solutions, it appears the winds of change are blowing in the direction of cloud computing.  IT reuse is an environmentally friendly solution and budget friendly, but requires third party reliance and strict security guidelines.

A national education cloud is an exciting proposition and we look forward to one day seeing it in practice, even if it comes out of our taxpayer pockets.
